The Ute Mountain Ute Tribe has been awarded $51,000 from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration.

The funding is reportedly for the tribe to develop and implement a comprehensive economic-development strategy for its region, which includes Montezuma County. In a release, Colorado Senator Cory Gardner called the grant “an excellent example of the federal government working with tribal communities.”
