The Utah Attorney General is appealing a federal judge’s decision to dismiss charges against the sheriff of San Juan County, Utah and two of his deputies. The San Juan Record reports the appeal process will investigate the judge’s ruling last month to drop various charges including reckless endangerment and retaliation against a witness. The charges had stemmed from a 2014 incident in which the sheriff allegedly pointed an unloaded gun at an employee while the deputies looked on. But the judge had ruled that there was not enough evidence for the case to move forward.
