After the Rico School closes in June, the Telluride schools will accept its students, according to Dolores County Schools Superintendent Bruce Hankins. He communicated news of the school closure in a letter to Rico community members Friday. Hankins says he has also reached out to the Telluride Schools to discuss a possible annexation of Rico’s School-- as long as voters in the Dolores County and the Telluride School District approve. To get Telluride’s take on the possible annexation, as well as the impacts they will see from the Rico school closure, KSJD's Austin Cope spoke with superintendent of the Telluride Schools, Mike Gass.
