The Mancos Town Board swore in Jason Spruell as the new Mancos Town Marshal on Wednesday evening. Spruell had previously been in the position of acting marshal after the removal of Marshal John Cox last year.
According to a press release from the Mancos Town Administrator’s office, the town of Mancos revamped its hiring process for law enforcement personnel, and Spruell underwent an in-depth background check by an independent investigation firm, a set of two panel interviews, a community meet and greet, as well as a drug test, psychological evaluation, polygraph test, and a skills and integrity test.
Spruell was selected from a pool of 15 applicants for the position, and was approved unanimously by the Mancos town board last night. Deputy marshals Mike Barnes and Yvonne McLellan were also sworn in by the new marshal.
