Dirt work for the new Montezuma County combined courthouse project in Cortez is progressing well and carpenters will be building forms for the foundation this week.
Owner’s rep Monty Guiles told the county commissioners Monday that a delay in getting a permit from the city has not hindered efforts. He said some of the 33,000 cubic yards of dirt being excavated will go to the city to use on its BMX park on Empire Street. The sheriff’s office is also taking dirt for a corral area for its new mounted patrol.
