Some studies estimate that children get only 4-7 minutes of unstructured play outdoors. But a group of 18 local organizations, called the Montezuma Inspire Coalition, recently received a 1.8 million dollar grant from Great Outdoors Colorado to try to increase that quantity. The grant is intended to support programs that encourage kids to get into the outdoors. To learn more about this grant, and how the group hopes to achieve its goals, KSJD's Austin Cope spoke with Jay Loschert of the Montezuma Land Conservancy, one of the organizations that has received the funding.
