Boating on the lower Dolores River may not last until Memorial Day weekend, which is generally the peak time for rafting.
That’s the latest word from managers of McPhee Dam, who say the inflow forecast for the reservoir has dropped again. They say releases of at least 800 cubic feet per second, the minimum for boating, will continue through the afternoon of Sunday, May 21st, but anything beyond that will depend on snowmelt and more moisture from the sky. The managers say they were forced to start releases early this season when the reservoir neared capacity following a wet winter.
