Last week the owners of the Navajo Generating station near Page, Arizona announced their plans to close the plant by the end of 2019. The announcement came about 25 years earlier than tribal leaders had expected. The plant has employed hundreds of workers, and Navajo Nation Tribal Council Speaker LoRenzo Bates says the plant provides more than 30 percent of the Navajo Nation’s annual revenues. Speaker Bates joined KSJD's Austin Cope to talk more about this issue.
