Former Navajo Nation Council Delegate Annie Descheny Dies at Age 77

The Navajo Nation is mourning the loss of a former longtime council delegate. Annie B. Descheny reportedly passed away Thursday at the age of 77. The nation says Descheney represented her home community of from Bááháálí, New Mexico, on the tribal council for four terms beginning in 1987. She also served as chapter president and secretary/treasurer. In a statement, council delegate Seth Damon said, “We have lost a true leader within our community.” Damon said Descheny’s contributions to the Bááháálí community will always be cherished.
