Don Coram, who represents Montezuma, Dolores, San Miguel and Montrose counties in the Colorado House of Representatives, is set to become a state senator.
The Cortez Journal reports that Coram, a Republican from Montrose, was chosen Saturday to replace the Sixth District’s Ellen Roberts, who is retiring. A GOP committee that met at the Dolores Community Center picked Coram over another politician from Montrose, County Commissioner David White, by a vote of 87 to 24. Coram will fill out Roberts’ term, which ends in 2018, and then will be eligible to run again. A businessman from Montrose, Marcus Catlin, was chosen to fill the House seat being vacated by Coram.
