CDOT May Rethink Remodel of Montezuma County Road BB Intersection

Staunch opposition to a proposal for revamping the intersection of U.S. 491 and Montezuma County’s Road BB may have persuaded the state to hold off.

County Administrator Melissa Brunner says Colorado Department of Transportation officials told the county recently that instead of making the intersection right-in, right-out only, they will try alternatives such as new signs and warning lights. Local residents had voiced opposition to the restricted access at a half-dozen public meetings and the county backed them. Brunner says CDOT also hopes to divert tourists headed to Hovenweep National Monument onto Road CC, which is scheduled for a chip-seal.
