KSJD's Austin Cope spoke with Utah poet David Lee, who will be reading his poetry at the Cortez Public Library's Wordstock 2017 fundraiser. Lee was the State of Utah’s first Poet Laureate and has been nominated for a Pulitzer prize and the position of national poet laureate.

Justice Gregory Hobbs, Jr. served on the Colorado Supreme Court from 1996 to 2015. He is an expert on water law, and decided some groundbreaking cases during his tenure. But he is also a poet, an activist, and the author of various books.  He’ll be speaking at the Cortez Public Library Wednesday, May 17th at 6pm. He talked with KSJD’s Gail Binkly about his life as a justice, a poet, and the importance of water.

Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer writes short poems-- and when we say short, we mean really short. She is based in Placerville, CO, and will visit Cortez to perform some of her works on Friday, January 20th at 10am at the Cortez Public Library. She will be accompanied by cellist Kyra Kopestonsky. She talked with KSJD’s Austin Cope about what goes into her work, and how poetry can apply to the world at large.
