The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public input on management for the downsized Bears Ears National Monument even though the smaller monument faces legal challenges and stiff opposition.

President Trump is set to deliver an early Christmas gift to Utah’s elected leaders on Monday. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Trump is coming to Salt Lake City to announce an executive order shrinking two of the state’s national monuments, Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante.

Colorado’s Third District Congressman, Republican Scott Tipton of Cortez, is supporting proposed legislation that would radically alter the 1906 Antiquities Act, which gives presidents the authority to create national monuments. However, a representative of one monument in Southwest Colorado is questioning the congressman’s stance.
