The Cortez City Council agreed Tuesday to nominate the old City Hall at 210 East Main Street for listing on the City Register of Historic Structures.

Originally aired in February of 2014, before the Gold King Mine waste spill into the Animas River on August 5th, 2015. 

Abandoned mines across the west many times drain water that is contaminated by heavy metals and other pollutants. KSJD's Tom Yoder talks with documentary video producer Tom Schillaci and Peter Butler from the Animas River Stakeholders Group about how their efforts to clean up these mines is hampered by legislation that places liability on them under the Clean Water Act.
