The City of Cortez will wait until next year to install medians on Main Street.

 

Cortez Public Works Director Phil Johnson tells KSJD the City did not receive bids from contractors in time to begin the project this fall. The City will now accept bids in January, and Johnson says he expects more contractors to apply at that time.

Crews are putting the final touches on a new road surface for Highway 491 north of Cortez this week.

On Monday, the town of Mancos held a groundbreaking ceremony for the town’s second crosswalk across Highway 160, located at the intersection of Beech Street across from the Mancos Vet clinic.

During the month of January, Colorado got a lot of snow. Snowfall in the San Juan mountains hit 135 percent of average, totaling over 60 inches on Lizard Head Pass by the end of the month. The snow more or less buried towns like Rico, and avalanches closed mountain passes.

A score of upset residents from the Pleasant View area came to the Montezuma County Commission meeting Monday to protest the proposed closing of one end of County Road BB.
