Zinke Considers Moving Top BLM Offices to Colorado or Utah

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is considering moving the Bureau of Land Management’s headquarters to Denver or Salt Lake City in an effort to bring agency heads closer to the lands they manage. Zinke tellsthe Salt Lake tribune the BLM’s “preponderance of activities” are in the West, so having offices on the ground could benefit the public. Republican lawmakers in Utah and Colorado generally support the move, though it has been called a “PR ploy” by the left-leaning Center for American Progress. The timeline of the change is not yet known.
