For the second time in five years, organizers have canceled the Vallecito Lake Ice Fishing Tournament northeast of Durango because of unstable ice.
The Durango Herald reports that warming temperatures are to blame. Vallecito Conservation and Sporting Association President Jared Hansen told the Herald the ice-fishing season has grown shorter over recent years.
