The race between incumbent Republican Scott Tipton and challenger Gail Schwartz for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District seat is attracting big bucks.

The Denver Post reports that Schwartz, a Democrat, has outraised Tipton since she entered the race in April, garnering $1.3 million vs. Tipton’s $805,000. However, since the campaign’s earliest days, Tipton has brought in more donations, for a total of about $1.6 million. Tipton is believed to hold an advantage in the sprawling district, where there are more registered Republicans than Democrats.
