Sunflower Theatre Director Kim Welty Says Goodbye...For Now

Kim Welty,  the director of the Sunflower Theatre at KSJD, is retiring after almost 2 ½ years since the theatre’s opening in January 2015. This week was her final week at work, and she will be saying her final goodbye at the Sunflower's Jeffrey Foucault show on Sunday, May 7th at 7pm. The new director is Desiree Henderson.  KSJD's Austin Cope sat down with Kim Welty to reflect on her time as director.

Austin Cope is a former Morning Edition host for KSJD and now produces work on a freelance basis for the station. He grew up in Cortez and hosted a show on KSJD when he was 10 years old. After graduating from Montezuma-Cortez High School in 2010, he lived in Belgium, Ohio, Spain, northern Wyoming, and Himachal Pradesh, India before returning to the Cortez area. He has a degree in Politics from Oberlin College in Ohio.
