The Ute Mountain Housing Authority will receive more than $870,000 from the state Department of Local Affairs for a housing project in Towaoc on the Ute Mountain Ute Reservation.

The 11-unit project is for tribal members and other residents who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and earning less than 30 percent of area median income. Another project in Southwest Colorado, a 12-unit rental development in Silverton, was awarded $305,000. The awards were among eight affordable-housing grants totaling more than $9 million announced Thursday by DOLA’s Division of Housing.
