"Rhythm and Soul" Festival Withdraws Permit Application For Mancos Event

Organizers of a “Rhythm and Soul Festival” proposed near Mancos in late September have pulled their application for a high-impact permit.

The alcohol-free festival, featuring live music and yoga, would reportedly have drawn about 1,000 people to the Samuel Perry Ranch on Road G. However, area residents had voiced concerns about noise and traffic. The Montezuma County Planning Office now says the application, which was set for a public hearing on Monday, has been withdrawn, though organizers may seek another location for the event. Another controversial high-impact permit application is still set for Monday afternoon. That one involves a proposed multi-purpose industrial area near the George Geer Bike Trail just north of Cortez.
