The parents of an 11-year-old girl who was kidnapped and killed on the Navajo Nation a year ago are renewing their call for an Amber Alert system across the sprawling reservation.

The Farmington Daily-Times reports that Gary Mike and Pamela Foster spoke recently at an event commemorating their daughter, Ashlynne Mike, who was killed May 2nd, 2016 a few miles south of the Ship Rock formation in New Mexico. A Waterflow man has been charged with her murder. U.S. Senator John McCain of Arizona has introduced legislation to help Indian tribes expand the warning system on reservations and Ashlynne’s parents are urging that the bill be supported. A link to a petition is available on Foster’s Facebook page.
