Only A Drill: Northern New Mexico Emergency Services Will Simulate Major Crisis

Panoramio

The Northern Navajo Medical Center in Shiprock, New Mexico, will be among about a dozen organizations taking part in a full-scale emergency drill in San Juan County on Wednesday. The incident commander for the Shiprock Service Unit of Indian Health Services, Dante Halleck, tells KSJD the exercise will simulate a real-world crisis such as a riot that would send a surge of patients to area hospitals. The drill is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and responders will react as if the event is real.
