An officer with the New Mexico State Police was shot Sunday morning in Farmington, reportedly by a burglary suspect who was then killed in a resulting shootout. The Daily-Times reports that the officer, who was not identified, was wearing a bulletproof vest and was treated and releases for bruising. The incident reportedly occurred when a San Juan County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a pickup truck whose three occupants were suspects in several larceny and burglary cases and the State Police officer came to provide backup. Both law officers reportedly shot 26-year-old William Wilson after he allegedly pulled a gun and fired.
