The Navajo Nation has weighed in on controversial remarks made by President Trump Monday during an event honoring Native American code talkers. While recognizing three men for their service during World War II, Trump referred to Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, who says she has Native American blood, as “Pocahontas.” Navajo President Russell Begaye said in a release that the tribe does not want to engage in the dispute between the two politicians. He said, “It was our Code Talkers that ensured the freedom of the United States and that’s what is important to remember here.”
