Mancos Public Library is one of 14 libraries and 15 museums that are finalists for the 2018 National Medal for Museum and Library Service. In a release Monday, Mancos library Executive Director Lee Hallberg called it “a tremendous honor” to be considered for the medal, the highest award given to museums and libraries for community service. The library was nominated by Colorado Senator Cory Gardner. The 10 winners will be announced by the Institute of Museum and Library Services in April. In the meantime, anyone who has a story to share about visiting the Mancos Public Library is encouraged to do so on social media at www.facebook.com/USIMLS or www.twitter.com/us_imls using the hashtag #IMLSmedals.
