A federal judge has denied a Freedom of Information request from a coalition of environmental groups regarding a long-proposed luxury resort near the summit of Wolf Creek Pass.
The Durango Herald reports that the groups had been seeking the release of correspondence between contractors for the U.S. Forest Service and the developers of the so-called Village at Wolf Creek. But late in January, U.S. District Court Judge William Martinez denied the request. The environmental groups had successfully sued for access to thousands of internal U.S. Forest Service emails that they say show a too-cozy relationship between the Forest Service and developer, Leavell-McCombs Joint Venture. The latest FOIA request was denied because it involved private third-party contractors.
