Hunting With Drones is Illegal, Wildlife Managers Warn

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is warning sportspeople that it is illegal to use aerial drones to aid in hunting in any way. In a statement, Parks and Wildlife Law Enforcement and Public Safety Assistant Director Heather Dugan said such violations are occurring more frequently. She said the use of drones to scout, locate or herd animals, or to find animals that have been shot, is forbidden by both state regulations and the Federal Airborne Hunting Act. Additionally, drone use is restricted in state wildlife areas whether or not the owner is hunting. Penalties can include seizure of equipment and fines as high as $125,000.
