Cortez’s Southwest Open School has received a $25,000 grant for being one of Colorado’s best-performing nonprofits.

The Cortez Journal reports that the grant from the El Pomar Foundation’s Awards for Excellence program was presented to school Director Charlotte Wolf and board president Uriah Hubbard last weekend in Black Hawk. The funds will reportedly go to pay for a Native American youth advocate, as well as to support the school’s health clinic and technology fund.
