Chronic Pain Management

Non-operative joint and spine care using an approach centered around physical therapy, injections, and tailored medical treatment can help restore function and reduce suffering for patients with acute and chronic pain. KSJD's Tom Yoder talks with Dr. Dustin Cole, a pain management specialist with Southwest Health System, about how these procedures work, how they can benefit patients dealing with pain management, and why dealing with pain is also important for families and friends of those with chronic pain.

  • Patients feel more satisfied with their care when their doctors take a minute to sit down beside them. But harried doctors often fail to remember niceties like that. All the memorization of medical school seems to crowd out common courtesy, especially for interns just starting to see patients.
