CDOT Worker Dies After Being Hit By Vehicle Near Pagosa Springs

Colorado Department of Transportation

A 64-year-old employee with the Colorado Department of Transportation has died of injuries received when he was struck by a vehicle on February 2nd. Nolan Olson of Pagosa Springs was filling potholes on U.S. Highway 160 when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle. He was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood, but died Sunday. The Pagosa Sun reports that the driver, 83-year-old Jerry Modisette of Pagosa, was cited with careless driving causing bodily injury. In a release, CDOT Executive Director Michael Lewis said Olson’s death spotlights the risks that transportation workers face every day and urged people to take more care when driving.
