The Bureau of Land Management is still analyzing comments received on its preliminary environmental assessment of a proposal to expand the Phil’s World trail system east of Cortez.
Officials with the Tres Rios Field Office told the Montezuma County commissioners Monday that 65 people had commented and most favored the alternative that would offer the most new trail miles and the smallest buffer for a golden eagle’s nest. However, Field Office Manager Connie Clementson said this is not a voting process and all factors must be considered.
