Southwest author and wilderness advocate Terry Tempest Williams and her husband, Brooke, have appealed the Bureau of Land Management’s decision to reject their bid on two oil and gas leases in Grand County, Utah.
The Western Environmental Law Center filed the administrative challenge on their behalf. The couple made the only bid on the parcels and said they would consider developing the leases if it became environmentally sustainable to do so. They say the BLM is holding them to a different standard than other oil and gas lessees, who often hold leases for years without developing them.
