Arizona Man Confesses to Armed Robbery of Durango Dispensary

La Plata County Sheriff's Office

An Arizona man who Durango police believe attempted an armed robbery of a marijuana dispensary around 8:30 Wednesday night was arrested shortly after the incident.

According to a release, police and La Plata County sheriff’s officers responded to The Greenery in Bodo Industrial Park after a report of a robbery in progress. Employees told them the suspect, carrying an AR-15 rifle and wearing a face mask, hoodie, and gloves, had fled after struggling with a driver making a delivery. The robber allegedly ran off with the large quantity of marijuana the driver had left. A sheriff’s deputy soon spotted a man loading a duffel bag into the trunk of a car at a nearby business. When approached, the man reportedly fled into some nearby brush but was captured and identified as 29-year-old Alexander Johnson of Chandler, Arizona. He reportedly has confessed. Marijuana and an AR-15 were recovered from his vehicle.
